Museum and Science Centre Outreach
In 2002, the EIR program expanded its mandate to include community engagement through partnerships with local museums and science centres. Through these partnerships, we have run several day-long events that included numerous hands-on activities and demonstrations led by engineers. From electricity and sound demonstrations, to rocket building and origami, to an impressive model of the Rideau Canal – children and their families love to learn through this aspect of EIR’s innovative programming.
So far, we have run EIR-led hands-on activity-based programs in Kitchener, Kingston, Ottawa and Windsor. These community projects allow the EIR program to reach children who are not lucky enough to have an EIR come to their school.
Are you a museum or science centre interested in having the EIRs come to your organization to lead a day of presentations and hands-on activities? Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to enquire about availability in your area.
